Nevada Brings in More Money Than EverNevada casinos are reporting not only more money for this year’s May than last, but they are also showing a record win for any single month ever. According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Nevada casinos brought in $1.14 billion in May from gamblers, which was a 1.5% gain over same time last year. Also, the win was about $2 million more than the record had been which was set back in January of last year. The casinos say that it could have been even higher, but they had a slump in baccarat winnings that was not expected. As usual, slot machines brought in more than their fair share, and they had an increase as well. The win from slot machines was 2.6% more than it had been previously. Craps and roulette were up 6.5%. The governor said that the state saw an increase in percentage fee collections from the resort as well, by about 16.4%. This means the state ended up their year just slightly ahead fiscally than previously counted on. Gamblers wagered $14.7 billion, which includes $11.8 billion just in slot machines. The remainder came from the table games. The amount quoted as “win” is those monies that are brought into the casino but does not include monies such as operating costs or expenses that go out. It also does not include any money brought in from hotel, restaurant, or bar venues, only slot machines and table games.
