Kansas’ Slot Machines ComingWith Kansas approving slot machines at their racetracks, many have been eagerly anticipating their arrival. Many have wanted slot machines for some time now, and the fact that they were finally approved makes supporters very happy. Under the guise of the Kansas Lottery, slot machines were approved at the state’s three horse and dog tracks, and are expected to be in place before next spring. The director of the Kansas Lottery says that they are right on track for installing the slot machines and therefore expect them spring at the latest. The new law that was passed allows up to 2,800 slot machines among the tracks. The tracks that will be getting slot machines are the Campground Greyhound Park, the Wichita Greyhound Park, and the Woodlands dog and horse racing park. The law will also allow for the creation of resort style casinos with additional slot machines in four counties, all of which have not been determined. As of right now, the slot machine casinos will come into Ford County, Wyandotte County, then either Crawford or Cherokee County, and either Sedgwick or Sumner County. The law states that the slot machines and the casinos will be owned by the Kansas lottery, and the slot machines at the tracks will be owned by them as well. The state can hire private entities to operate them, but they will be owned by the state.
