Wyandotte County HopefulWith the countdown all but done, the opposition is starting to face what they think are the facts of the matter. Opponents believe that voters will legalize a slot machine casino in Wyandotte County. There does not seem to be a big push to keep it out, so they are probably right. Reverend Lynn Lamberty says that he is still preaching against it to anyone who will listen, but since there is no organized group rallying to keep the slot machines out, he believes that the voters will approve the measure and Wyandotte County will have slot machines and a casino before you know it. Governor Kathleen Sebelius has signed a measure allowing the state owned casinos in Kansas, and since that time Lamberty says that the opposition has been quiet. Experts say that without any sort of opposition, the slot machines are bound to be approved. Voters head to the polls tomorrow, so assuredly within the next few days the Reverend and others will know if they are doomed to get the slot machines or not. Voters will be deciding if the Woodlands gets slot machines at the race tracks, and if they should bring in a slot machine casino into the county. If the measure passes, Kansas residents could be looking at slot machines as early as next year, with a full blown slot machine casino to follow by 2010.
