PITG Gaming Holds Slot Machine LicensePITG Gaming, LLC had won one of Pennsylvania’s slot machine licenses, and the PA Supreme Court affirmed that today. The company went before the court to see if the licensing decision of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to give the casino a Category 2 slot machine license would hold up and it did. The board was pleased that the slot machine license held, because they knew that there was a chance that it would not. They had been tasked with finding the best facility for Pittsburgh and the Commonwealth, and obviously the court felt that they had given the slot machine license to someone who deserved it. The board said that it was a tough decision on who to give the slot machine license to, as they had three very qualified candidates wanting it. They say that the ruling is important not only because it supports the board’s findings, but it also pushes forward the process for the next slot machine parlor to open. Residents know that as soon as the slot machines are up and running they will start getting money for property tax relief, economic development, living wage jobs, etc. Isle of Capri, who is owned by IOC Pittsburgh, Inc. and Station Square Gaming, LP had decided to file the suit after the slot machine license was awarded to PITG. They had the right to file an appeal under the state Gaming Act, but the Supreme Court upheld the original decision.
