International Wants Slot Machines

Airport
has offered slot machines for their traveling passengers for a
long time. Not only do people appreciate the fact that they can
gamble while waiting for their flight, but the airport knows
that they have a captive audience and it is a great way to make
some extra revenue. There are stories of people purposely flying
through Las Vegas just so they can play the airport
slot machines.
Now Miami International
Airport is considering
doing the same. They know that they are a big airport in terms
of people jumping there for somewhere else, and they know that
this would be a great way to bring in additional revenue for the
state, and thus for the state’s education program.
Miami
Dade Commissioners have voted to seek a permit for slot machines
in the airport, and it was approved. They know that the airport
has been having major financial problems of their own, and to
bring in a revenue source like slot machines could cure that
once and for all. They are all very excited by the plan.
However,
there are some that are not so excited. It wasn’t all that long
ago that the pari-mutuels voted to allow slot machines in their
state and they say that if the airport gets them than they will
take their business. They say that they have just spent a lot of
money getting their slot machines up and running and to allow
the airport to do the same would simply be wrong.
