Politically Correct Slot Machine Casinos

Whenever it comes to slot machines you are invariably left with the decision as to whether or not they are right to bring in. There are arguments for both sides as to why slot machines should be allowed and there are arguments why they should not be allowed, but what happens when you try to make everyone happy? You end up with politically correct slot machines – something that is not easy to do and in the long run doesn’t really work.

In Massachusetts they are learning this lesson the hard way as they attempt to bring in slot machines but still make everyone happy. They realized that they could bring in slot machines but if they made some changes to them they might be able to keep those people who are against the slot machines happy too. However, as good in theory as it is, they aren’t making anyone happy by trying to ride the fence.

They have put all kinds of restrictions on the slot machines in terms of banning free drinks at the casinos, putting limits on the number of withdrawals from ATMs and the amount that can be taken out, making sure the casinos close at midnight, putting warning labels on the slot machines, and making public health counselors come talk to those people who have spent too much time at the slot machines. The liberals in the state say that it simply lets them know that the state’s government is a bunch of wimps afraid of getting any one angry – and so they are basically holding their hands while they play slot machines. The conservatives say that the state is still not doing enough to keep the gambling at a minimum and wants more restrictions placed on the casinos. Either way you look at it, the state is trying to make everyone happy and is managing not to make anyone happy!
