Bwin Wins Gambling DisputesAfter an exciting legal and financial week for the company, Bwin has won another gambling dispute against Omnia Communication-Centers GmbH. The company was trying to stop all of Bwin’s Austrian online gambling activities. They were also successful in a financial arrangement and are now looking to expand their online gambling offers. The company was happy with the outcome of the court’s decision to reject the application for preliminary injunction, and said that they would like to see the gambling market regulated for the benefit of the consumer, and that they want to conform with EU legislation. They said that there are certain realities of the internet age that had to be addressed and recognized, and that open communication is the way to go, not legal action. The Vienna Commercial Court has said that there was no competition between the plaintiff and Bwin, and that the injunction would be rejected. Omnia was trying to stop Bwin from offering slot machines and poker, etc. on the Austrian market, under its Gibraltarian license. This is
the second such attempt by online gambling companies to stop
Bwin. The company just won against Bavaria when they tried to
stop them from marketing their services. The Munich Court threw
out the attempt saying that it wasn’t possible for online
companies such as Bwin to screen out Bavarian members.
