Antigua Declares Internet Gambling War

There has been some speculation as to what Antigua would do now that the United States has said that they will not follow the rules and orders of the World Trade Organization. The WTO told the US that they had to either make all gambling illegal, or they had to allow online slot machines and gambling so that other countries could participate in the revenue earning.

However, the US told the WTO that they would not abide by those principles that they hold everyone else to, instead they would not even both appealing the case, because they are just not going to follow the internet gambling policy of the GATS treaty.

So today, Antigua announced that they are not going to sit idly by and allow the US to run rampant over other countries, and that they are going after American Copyrights, trademarks, telecommunication companies, etc. The Ambassador of Antigua, John Ashe, said that they were going to make things very difficult for the US.

They have asked other countries to support them and the WTO, and it is expected that the European Union will get involved. Antigua is the smallest nation ever to win a WTO ruling, and they are going against the big guns of the US. Thankfully for them, they are not going alone.

All of this just makes residents of the US even angrier, as many were upset that the UIGEA was even passed at all. They say that the sneaky tactics that the Government used to get it passed is telling of the fact that they will seemingly do whatever they want these days. Many US Representatives say they never even saw the drafting of the act.
