Slot Machine Expansion Needs More LandHoosier Park is planning on expanding the track so that they have more room for their upcoming slot machine addition. The track’s owners say that they are looking to purchase 19 acres so that they can add the slot machines that they have just been approved for. The Indiana Horse Racing Commission has just approved Centaur Inc., the company that owns the track, to buy land from Virgil Cook. Cook was a partner in Hoosier Park since it first opened back in 1994 – and the company is going to pay $1 million for the land. The purchase is expected to go forward without any problems, and should be completed by the end of July. The track has not decided on their final construction plans for the slot machine addition yet, but they have gone through many choices already. They say that whatever they decide, parking will be the biggest thing because of all of the slot machines that will be added. Indiana Downs is also going to be expanding their facilities, as they are planning on adding 2,000 slot machines as well. Per recent state law the tracks are allowed to add up to 2,000 slot machines – the law was approved earlier this year.
