Slot Machine Report Made Public

Attorney General Marc Dann held his ground, and the manufacturer of the slot machines that have been an issue of great contention lately agreed to his terms. Dann had asked the slot machine manufacturer, owner of the game Match ‘Um Up, to release paperwork that showed what the analysis of the games were – and the company had refused.

Dann insisted that the report be made public, as he said that this was one of the key elements to determining if the game was a “skill game” or if it was in fact, a slot machine game. The company finally agreed to release the report, but only after much stalling.

The game is a video console that looks like a slot machine, and the game consists of rows of fruit pieces. The player will wager on the likelihood of the fruit pieces matching up, but what supposedly makes it different from a slot machine is that the player has some control over whether or not they win.

Dann has not said yet whether or not he is approving the games, but Governor Ted Strickland said that people in the state have made it very clear that they do not want to expand gambling in the state and said that he did not want anyone to “game the system.” Dann meanwhile, has called on the legislature to regulate them, so it is still up in the air as to what he will decide.
