World Series of Poker

The World Series of Poker began June 1^st, and will continue through to the 17^th of the same month at the Rio. The tournament is easily the biggest gambling event in the world, with people coming from the far ends of the earth to attend it. It is a $10,000 buy-in, no limit Texas Hold’em game. There is also a $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event that begins on June 15, with the main event on July 6^th.

Eastside Cannery

The Eastside Cannery has finally broken ground at Nevada Palace east of the Strip. The casino will be $250 million to build and will have slot machines, table games, a hotel, bingo hall, and spa. The Nevada Palace will remain open during construction but will be demolished before the Eastside Cannery opens.

MGM Mirage

MGM Mirage has announced that they are investing in the M Resort. It is located at the south end of the Strip, and they are planning on building a casino resort, spa and convention center that will cost about $700 million for the first phase. The MGM Mirage is putting up $160 million of that amount to get them started, and construction should be completed by mid year 2009.
