When people think about the elderly and their gambling, they usually target them as slot machine kind of people. After all, when you go to the casinos, you see the slot machines and pretty much any time of ay you can find the rows filled with those with grey hair and glasses. However, what happens when one of those slot machine playing grandparents leaves the bank of machines and tries something else? A winner is born!

This is exactly what happened to Patricia DeMauro. DeMauro is a New Jersey grandmother who was playing the slot machines at Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa. DeMauro was your traditional slot machine player and had come to the casino to play just that. She accompanied a friend of hers, John Capra, and she went off to play the slot machines while he wet off to play three card poker.

However, after playing the penny slot machines for some time, DeMauro became bored with the games and decided to head over to poker to see how Capra was doing. He was not doing well, but he offered to show her how to play Craps.

So they headed over to the craps table and Capra quickly sevened out. Then DeMauro took the dice. She rolled the pair of dice 154 times continuously, without rolling a seven – which is just unheard of. Experts say that you have a better chance of being hit by lightning than you do of that happening.

DeMauro brought $100 with her into the game and proceeded to roll the dice, over and over and over again. The previous record for consecutive rolls was 147, and DeMauro beat that record. Most people roll it around eight times before they seven out. DeMauro did not share how much she had won at the end of it but you can bet that she did a lot better than she would have done if she had stayed at the penny slot machine.
