Calder Gets Horsemen’s Hopes Up

Because of this, their players are very excited and they have seen an increase in the amount of business that they have been doing.

Experts agree that those tracks that are able to offer slot machines are able to offer higher purses to their players because they have more money to play with. Sam Gordon, President of the Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association said that they are hoping that they will see another increase from the track if their slot machine revenues continue to grow.

The track says that if they are able to bring in more slot machine revenue that they would consider another increase this meet, and that their parent company had agreed to the purse increase. They said that they have been in negotiations to increase the purse for the past three weeks and they finally decided that they could have it now instead of having to wait for it. They understood that the racing industry was hurting and that the slot machines could go a long way towards helping them out.
