Big Win is Malfunction
There
seems to be a problem in The
problem this time was that the couple – Mary Ann and Jim McMahon
were playing the slot machines as the Wildwood Casino when they
thought that they won $11 million. However, the casino turned
around and said that the win was actually a malfunction of the
slot machine and that they were not liable to have to pay it
out. The Colorado Gaming Division took possession of the slot
machine to check it out and ended up siding with the casino.
But this malfunction is more than that – you have players who win and think that their problems are over only to see that amount taken away from them. This is worse than never winning at all. Some have suggested that if the casinos had to pay out half of whatever the jackpot said when there was an error, that they might be more diligent in keeping their slot machines in working order. This is a great idea – especially in cases like the McMahon’s where they think that they won $11 million and instead of going home empty handed they leave with $5.5 million instead. Bet we would see a lot less “malfunctions” if the casinos were held liable for them.
