It is amazing that after all these years and all this talk about technology that there are still some people that believe the various myths out there that have to do with slot machines and they attempt to get them to work for them. They think that if they play the slot machines a certain way, or at a certain time that they stand a chance of winning more than if they hadn’t. It is also funny to think that when slot machines first came out the casinos didn’t even want them as they thought that they were ugly and they said that no one would play them. When they first started coming out on the floors they were simply put there to keep the wives of the poker players busy so they could take their husbands’ money at the tables. Now they make up 70% of the casinos’ profits on any given day.

But with this increase in popularity, the myths started to come. If you played a slot machine for a certain amount of time it would be “due” to hit, or if a slot machine hadn’t been played in a while it was “cold” and could hit at any moment. Then if you put the coin in at just the right moment or from a certain angle you could trigger a win. Or you were playing the slot machine and you walked away and someone hit it – and it was yours to take. Not necessarily. The fact is that the only thing that determines whether or not you are going to win is the Random Number Generator that is in them, and the numbers are constantly generating whether you are playing or not.

The timing of the coin is impossible to predict so it is possible that you could have won, but it is also possible that you could have put your coin in a second too soon or too late and still not have won.
