Macau Beats Vegas in 2006The numbers are in and Macau has won! According to the figures posted in 2006, Macau brought in $6.87 billion in slot machine and gambling revenue last year, as compared to the $6.69 billion that Las Vegas brought in. These numbers do not include the other forms of revenue that Vegas has to offer however. The above numbers represent the slot machine and gambling income from 23 casinos in Macau, and 39 casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. This does not include their hotels, restaurants, etc. for either location. However, it does still mean that Macau is growing quickly. It used to be that Macau was only a day trip, but with so many hotels coming in, it will be interesting to see next year’s numbers for overall revenue. The fact that Macau is beating Vegas with fewer casinos is interesting as well, for more casinos are coming in all the time. Macau, and Asia, are quickly becoming the future destination of professional gamblers. Not that anyone would stop going to Vegas, for not only is it more convenient for most US residents, but it is also an icon that people won’t stop coming to. Back to March Index - Slot Machines Fan |
