Pocono Manor Challenging StateWhen the Mount Airy Resort was awarded the slot machine license that Pocono Manor Resort wanted, many thought that would be the end of it. However, Pocono Manor has been examining their options, and they have decided to file an appeal with the state supreme court to see if they can get the slot machine license instead. Pocono Manor had thirty days to appeal from the date the report was released at the beginning of this month. The state said that the reason they went with Mount Airy was because of location, design, and ownership. They said that the location in the Pocono Mountains was the foremost reason why they got the slot machine license. Then they said that the design of the Mount Airy casino fit in better with the location – and that the Pocono Manor one would be better off in Las Vegas. Then they said that the resort is owned by Louis DeNaples, a local businessman – whereas the Pocono Manor was going to be developed by a New Jersey company. Pocono
Manor’s lawyers said that they have reviewed the report and they
feel it is in their clients’ best interests to appeal the
ruling. They said they cannot offer any other information at
this time, nor would any of the investors of the Pocono Manor be
commenting to the press as this was now a legal proceeding. Back to March Index - Slot Machines Fan |
