Slot Machine Repair Classes

Where there are slot machines, a slot machine repair man cannot be far away – or at least this is the thinking of Dennis McCarthy. McCarthy realized that with so many slot machines coming into the state that there would have to be a training program for those that would be responsible for fixing them.

McCarthy is the adult education coordinator at the Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School in Jefferson Hills. He has gotten permission from the state’s Gaming Control Board to hold a class and have on the premises 15 slot machines.

The slot machines are to be kept in the classroom and will be secured with locks as well as security cameras. The course will cover the upkeep and repair of slot machines, and he could be running it as soon as September.

He says that the beauty of this approval is that they will be able to completely teach the slot machine class using the “latest technology, the machines that are in the casinos right now.” This will be the first school to offer the class and the board thinks that there will be many more to follow.
