Now the fact that this is a record jackpot has two interesting things about it. Paulette Mills of Margate, Florida, is a live in nurse who works every day. However, on this particular day, she chose to go to the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino and play their slot machines.

Little did Mills know that she would be walking away with a jackpot from that slot machine for $1,114,815. This made the first time in Florida history that a slot machine paid out more than a million dollars. With the slot machines all linked to each other at each of the tribe’s seven locations for the first time, it didn’t take long for the jackpot to build.

Mills’ slot machine that she was playing was the nickel slots, and she had played the maximum of $1.35 in order to qualify for the large jackpot. But talk about a lucky family, she found out later that her father had won $7,000 on the state lottery as well.
