Sussex Slot Machines Could Be Gone SoonSussex is feeling the pinch of the new slot machine law, and many of their arcades are either closed or closing. It seems that the new law had made it difficult for the slot machine arcades to continue functioning the way it is currently written. Those that own these slot machine arcades are asking for drastic changes to be made to the law, and that if they aren’t then even more of these arcades will have to close down. One establishment, the Laughing Policeman, will surely be gone by next year, as will the Treasure Island slot machine arcade in Eastbourne and Family Leisure in Brighton. Under the new bill, the slot machine arcades are not allowed £2 stake machines. They can have a maximum stake of £1, and they are only allowed a max of four of them – no matter how large their arcade. The slot machine owners say that this has led to a 40% reduction in the amount of revenue that they bring in – just since September when the law was passed. Some of
them say that they have literally invested millions of pounds in
their businesses and do not want to see them go belly up. They
say that the bookies are getting all of their business now as
they are not subject to the same limitations, and it will be the
end of them if something is not done about it. Back to March Index - Slot Machines Fan |
