Illegal Slot Machines

Cecil County, Maryland is the location of an illegal slot machine gambling ring and police have now broken it up. Those that are involved in the slot machine ring are now facing gambling related charges from the Cecil County Sheriff’s office. The slot machine ring was located in the Port Deposit area of the state, and was in a restaurant by the name of Jumbo Jimmy’s.

The police raided the establishment and turned up eight slot machines that were being illegally run. The owner is now facing charges for running the illegal slot machines, and the machines are in police custody. They said that police and Comptroller’s Office agents raided the joint and took cash and receipts in addition to the slot machines.

Agents had gotten a tip that there was illegal slot machine gambling going on in the establishment and so they went there to investigate the charges. Upon visiting the site, they saw someone playing at a slot machine and was running up a lot of points. Once the player was done, they went to the employee that was there and they paid them out in cash, thereby breaking the law.

The owner of the site is William Barton. Barton is currently looking at eight counts of keeping a gaming table – one count for each slot machine that police seized in the raid. He is also facing charges of using the gambling table and one count each of permitting the use of a gaming table and for keeping the table for the purpose of gaming.
