Too Many Slot Machines for One Area

There is a growing concern that the Northeast may have more slot machines than they have players, and that they may have reached the saturation point for the games. The idea that you can just keep adding slot machines to every state in the union makes it impossible for you to have that many players. Those that play the slot machines say that they literally have a choice as to where they want to play, whereas before it was head to Atlantic City or fly to Las Vegas.

There are many states that are bringing in slot machines and saying that there is nothing to worry about because they are bringing in millions of dollars. However, they see those numbers initially because they are the new kid on the block – just ask Atlantic City. Because of the influx of slot machines their numbers are down to their lowest point since they opened the casinos in the ‘70’s.

Now Maryland has approved slot machines in their state, and Pennsylvania isn’t done yet adding all of theirs in. Experts say that if they aren’t at the point of saturation yet, they very shortly will be. They argue that for any other state to even considering bringing in more slot machines they would simply be adding more water to a fire that was already out.

In the past four years alone more than 25,000 slot machines have come to the Northwestern United States, and there are more coming. Being one of the last kids on the block Maryland will undoubtedly never see the numbers that the others did – even if only for a short time. Instead, they will be running less than the other states did when they first opened, and the other states will all see a significant drop in their slot machine revenue.
