Abbotsford Council Hears from Playtime

The Abbotsford Council has heard the pitch from the Playtime Gaming Company that they need more slot machines at their Chances Community Gaming Center. They argue that with the number of slot machines that they are currently offering, there is no way that they will be able to keep up with the demand of their clients. They are hoping that the council will allow them to bring in more slot machines so that they can ultimately bring in more money.

They have asked he council if they can lift the limit, but the public has to weigh in on it before they can make a decision. Right now the center has 125 slot machines and 192 bingo machines. They would like to be able to have a max of 180 slot machines if the council will let them. In addition to more slot machines, they are also hoping that the council will allow them to bring in a liquor license.

The staff of the council has to prepare an amendment to the zoning bylaw in order for them to bring in more slot machines and the liquor license. If it passes the council, then it goes to the public to hear what they have to say on the matter. If the public is in agreement that the slot machines should come in, then they will move forward from there. If they do not agree on the slot machines, or the liquor license then they will not be able to move forward with their plans and may have to revisit the idea at a later date.
