Rivers Casino Helping Everyone

Sometimes when states talk about bringing in slot machines it can be tough for most people to wonder how that will help them. They think that the state will get all of this money to help them balance their budgets, but the people who live in the neighborhoods surrounding the slot machines are the ones who really pay the price. The casinos might pay good money, but they fear that they are about to be inundated with crime, increased addiction, increased thefts, increased spousal abuse, etc. They think that the slot machines are a bad idea as all they see is the negative that comes out of them.

But the Rivers Casino is one of those that is here to show you how much good the slot machines can bring into the local towns where they are located. Not only do the local towns get money from the slot machines to help with things that they need – but they also get the boost from the tourism that inevitably follows. Those people that are going to the casinos end up spending a lot in the towns where they are located as well – which helps them on an individual basis.

In the Rivers situation, they have already paid $350,000 to the members of the Northside Leadership Conference for community development, and the casino is pledging to give them $1 million annually for this purpose. That money will do a lot of good for the location, and in addition to allowing them to hire more police, etc. to handle any increase in crime, it will also allow them to do things to their community that they would not have been able to do before.
