Davis Stole from Slot MachinesMark Hutchins Davis chose the wrong profession. He should have chosen something that would not tempt him to steal, but instead he chose to be a slot machine repairman – way too tempting for Davis. Davis had been stealing coins from the slot machines for close to a year, and had stolen more than $22,000 from the casinos whose slot machines he had been servicing. He would service the slot machines and then take a little tip for himself and walk out the door with it. Davis had been under surveillance by the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s agents as they suspected that he might be up to no good. He came into the Carson Valley Inn, serviced the slot machine and left. However, agents saw him take two hoppers on the surveillance video, and then go to an area of the casino where there were no cameras. When he returned, and closed up the slot machines, the agents followed him from the building. When they got outside, they asked him if they could see what was in his backpack and Davis let them. Upon inspection, they found a bag containing $300 in quarters, and Davis told them that he had more at home. At his house they found $22,426. He is now in Douglas County Jail awaiting trail for felony embezzlement and grand theft.
