Making Gambling Safe and Secure

The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling initiative that is being sponsored by two UK companies is attempting to help the US legalize online slot machines and gambling. UC Group, a payment services provider, and accounting group Baker Tilly, are working to support legislation that has been introduced by Congressman Barney Frank that would legalize online gambling and make it safe at the same time.

They say that right now people are still gambling, so making it illegal did not change that. What it did was change the controls of it so that unscrupulous individuals are benefiting from online players’ ignorance.

They say that since internet gambling is truly an individual choice and that by the government making it illegal they are intruding into their personal lives and that the government needs to keep their noses out of it. They say that the ban has not changed online gambling except to make it more dangerous than it was before, as most reputable companies are no longer doing service with Americans.

The new legislation would change the rules of protection, so to speak. Whereas before underage and gambling addicts could gamble without any checks and balances, there would be controls set in that would keep them from being able to gamble online. It would also make sure that only reputable companies could take people’s money, all the while bringing in revenue for the government.
