Mountaineer Changes Dates for VoteThe table game voting days are arriving quickly in West Virginia, with some voters opting for early bird voting instead of waiting for the big day. Most of the tracks have chosen June 9th as their day, but Mountaineer has broken off from the pack. Voters have already started casting their votes, but it is still anyone’s guess as to whether or not they will pass the measure that will allow table games to join the slot machines that are at the tracks. The government voted last year to leave it up to the four counties that have the racetracks located in them, and they will have a vote to see if they want to approve them or not. It will be handled on a county by county basis, where each county will decide on its own if they want it. If one county votes to not allow the table games, it will not change the vote in the other counties. There are two horse and two dog tracks that want to add the games. Mountaineer is the only one that will be holding its election on June 30th. Because the Hancock County clerk did not advertise the election properly, they have decided to move the date back so that no one could come back later and sue. There is talk that one of the dog tracks may be changing their date to June 30th as well, but as of the writing of this article that had not been announced.
