The Randomness of It AllThe thing is, no matter how much you talk about things being random; some people still think that they can predict how it will turn out. Take slot machines for example, people think that a machine will pay out soon just because it has not hit in awhile. This is certainly not true. Slot machines have been set up so that they are nothing but random, and there is no way to predict when one is going to hit or not hit. A slot machine may run loose or tight, but that usually has something to do with where it is located rather than how the slot machine is running. Each slot machine is set to give back a certain amount of its winnings; however, they can come back all at once, or in little bits here and there. It is truly up to the machine. They have what is called a RNG – a Random Number Generator – that ensures that all plays on the machines, as well as all results on the machines, are truly random. The slot machines are not fixed to pay out a certain amount after a specified amount of time; it just doesn’t work like that. However, if you go to a slot machine that is near the change out areas, or near the front door, then yes – they will pay out better than other slot machines but they have been programmed to pay out more. It isn’t because the slot machine feels that it might be time to pay someone.
