Live at the SandsCasino on the Grand, a casino fundraising event that had been eagerly anticipated, ended up bringing in somewhere around $80,000 for its charity – the Broadway Theater Guild. The event coincided with the production “The Rat Pack – Live at the Sands” and people loved the show and the theme. After the show, people came back and played at the casino fundraiser, as it was a chance to do some playing and some socializing. Many said that the biggest highlight was to hang out with the cast in such a fun atmosphere. Patrons got to play roulette, blackjack, poker, and craps, as well as other casino games. Marketing Director Nancy Brian said that the large turnout was more than what was expected and that it has been their most successful event to date. They had about 300 people attend the show, which also included dinner before hand, desert after, and then casino games for the remainder of the night. They even had a live auction, which alone netted them $20,000. There will be more touring Broadway shows coming in, and the guild expects that with the popularity of these shows that they will be able to bring in more money. They say that with the assistance from the community, they will be able to continue on for a long time.
