Slot Machines Still PayingWhen the Sands hotel was being readied for demolition, the workers found thousands of dollars in quarters underneath the slot machines when they lifted them up. It seems that it may be an epidemic of sorts, as when they started breaking down the Nevada Landing Casino in order to eliminate the location, they found tons of money under and around the slot machines. Chris McBeth and Sean Holden have been working on the break down and they say that they have been watching technicians pull out the slot machines and the money that was just sitting underneath of them. So far, they have found almost $10,000 in spare change just sitting there. Some of the slot machine change is from workers filling the machines; some is from people dropping winnings on the floor. Some of the money is just change that fell through various mechanisms and ended up falling to the floor of the slot machine itself. The casino will be eliminated eventually with a planned community taking itse place. But, once all of the slot machines have been removed, then they will take a final tally of what is actually there - and since it is currently near the $10,000 mark – you can assume it will be a high number. The chips that are found will no longer have any use as the casino won’t be around, so all chips will be destroyed.
