Slot Machine Programmed IncorrectlyFlorida Eash was in for quite a surprise when she was playing the slot machines at the IP Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. She was playing in February of last year, when her slot machine rang out that she had won. Not only had she won, but she won $1 million. It turns out that when International Game Technology sent the machine to the casino, the slot machine was programmed incorrectly. The technician that worked on the slot machine had programmed it as a progressive jackpot machine instead of a stand alone that should have paid out a maximum of $8,000. When Eash tried to claim her winnings the casino told her that the slot machine must have had an error as it is not supposed to pay out that much. She complained to the Mississippi Gaming Commission who discovered that the error was not due to a malfunction, and therefore Eash was owed the million dollars. The casino is appealing the case, and IGT has agreed to pay all of their legal fees. The casino says that they should because they are supposed to send them a certain quality of merchandise which they did not. So now Eash and the casino are waiting to see who ends up in the right. The Circuit Court of Harrison County will hear the case next and they will decide who is in the right.
