They say that the more people they can get to call their reps the more the government is likely to listen to them. They have pages on their web site set up so that people can go on and get their representatives’ phone numbers and addresses, in hopes that the convenience of it will enable more people to call.

They just want people to call and say that they support the bill that is currently in the works from Barney Frank to overturn the UIGEA. They also would like you to mention one of five talking points. Firstly, they want you to point out that this act was attached to another bill that was about Port Security. They knew that the bill would pass and therefore attached the UIGEA to it. They want you to tell your rep that there should have been discussion about the bill before it passed and that did not happen.

They also want you to tell them that it is a direct violation of the World Trade Organization ruling – even after the WTO told them to open their borders to online gambling, the US refused. If we want other countries to comply with the WTO we have to be willing to bend as well. It is also ridiculous the number of slot machines and casinos that are popping up in the US, and that is allowed but gambling on your computer in the safety of your own home is illegal. Their rulings are obviously not consistent within the country.

When casinos are unregulated, as internet gambling is now, it doesn’t mean that there won’t be gambling, it just means it will be driven underground. Not only will there be no regulations for it, it also means that there is no way for those with a problem to seek help. They say that it is the corrupt people who are surviving in this new world, not the honest ones.

And finally, tell them that you want to spend your money however you want. This is supposed to be America which means we don’t live under a dictatorship, and we have the freedom to choose as we please to do whatever we want with our money. The government taking that away removed the individual’s freedom, and that is just un-American.
