Many are upset that the B.C. Liberals seem to have broken their promise not to allow slot machines to proliferate in their country. However, now it seems that it was just talk, for there are more slot machines coming in anyway.

Opponents argue that when Gordon Campbell came to office, he and his staff promised to “stop the expansion of gambling that has increased gambling addiction and put new strains on families.” But it seems that they were just saying whatever they needed to in order to get elected.

Now that Newton’s bingo hall is bringing in slot machines, many feel betrayed by the government. They say that it is a “fundamental betrayal by Surrey’s B.C. Liberal MLAs” on the slot machine issue.

However, the problem remains that slot machines have more than tripled since they have been in office. When Campbell came in there were 2,400 slot machines – now there are 9,000. So much for keeping your word.
