Players Forget Slot Machine PayoutsSometimes when players leave their slot machines for whatever reason, they forget to cash out. Sometimes it is simply that they are going to the rest room, other times they are leaving the casino – but either way, if they leave without cashing out they are leaving credits in the slot machines. And credits equate to cash. The Hollywood Casino has been having some difficulties with people leaving their credits in the slot machines, and when they do that, invariably someone else comes along and either uses them or simply cashes them out. Sometimes it is an honest mistake – but other times it is on purpose, and police say that that is a crime. It has happened where the slot machine player left the machine without cashing out – and the next player came along and put their money in without looking at the machine. They simply play what credits are there, and think that they must have hit it at some point to have such a high balance. However, this is not the case most of the time.
Recently, a 42-year old Harrisburg man mistakenly left $901 on
his slot machine in credits. Then, someone else came along and
saw the balance on the slot machine and cashed it out for
themselves. The police do not know who the person was yet, but
they are investigating. They say that “finder’s keepers” is
simply not the way the slot machines or the casino operates.
