New
Hampshire
Has Another Plan
The
state of New Hampshire is trying
another plan to get slot machine casinos legalized in their
state. The plan
originally had language in it that made online gambling illegal
and residents had a big problem with that. They said that the
issue as to whether or not these slot machines and casinos come
in does not have anything to do with whether or not online
gambling is allowed. The state’s representatives finally agreed
and pulled the language from their bill, but it is still
fighting an uphill battle as many residents don’t want the slot
machines to come in.
The
Lottery Commission would like four locations to be legalized in
the state where they could house slot machines. The Senate is
introducing the bill this week, and if approved they would get
their slot machine locations. The state could allow for two $50
million licenses at 3,500
slot machines each. Then they
could offer a $30 million license which would give you 2,000
slot machines, and a $15 million license that would give 1,000
slot machines.
Senator
Lou D’Allesandro has been pushing for the legislation and he
said that he believes that it will pass this week. He said that
he thinks that he has the thirteen votes necessary to bring in
the slot machine casinos to the state. He thinks that if they
move fast enough on it this year they could actually see the
first $80 million in licensing fees this year.
