Boyd Selling South Coast SlotsBoyd Gaming Corp, a large contender in the slot machine industry, has decided to sell its South Coast in Las Vegas and the state’s slot machine gaming commission is all for it. They want to sell it to Michael Gaughan, who is already a big player in Vegas. Gaughan is the founder and former operator of Coast Casinos which Boyd Gaming got in a merger two years ago. Business has been soft at the slot machine casino which opened in December, but Gaughan is confident that a freeway interchange project that is in the works will improve business at the slot machine casino. Gaughan is excited to be getting the slot machine casino back, as he gets to run his own business again. He has been quoted as saying he didn’t really enjoy the corporate life that he has been doing since the merger with Boyd. The Gaming Commission also approved Marianne Boyd Johnson as VP and Director of Coast Casinos, and Brian Larson as VP. William Richard Boyd was approved as VP and Director of Boyd Gaming Corp. The commission also approved the buyout of Pahrump Nugget Hotel and Gambling Hall by Golden Gaming. Golden Gaming is buying the nugget from Generation 2000. The slot machine casino has 553 slot machines, table games, restaurants, etc.
