Many Approve of Changes to Slot Machine Law

With the Senate finally approving the amendments to the law that legalized slot machines in the state of Pennsylvania, many residents are finally starting to be happy that they legalized them in the first place. The slot machine law was passed over two years ago, but there were a lot of problems with the stipulations that had been placed in the bill, and therefore it has held up the opening of many of these slot machine casinos.

By giving zoning rights back to the areas that will see the stand alone slot machine casinos come in, as well as allowing Allegheny county to decide how they want to handle smoking – officials in those areas are feeling much better about the impact that the slot machines will have on their areas of the state.

The only ones that aren’t happy are the middlemen. The Senate also voted to make slot machine middlemen optional instead of mandatory, which will make many officials, as well as many voters incredibly happy. They felt that the state was using it to get more money, but they wanted it to try to keep a handle on corruption within the slot machine industry. Senator Vincent Fumo said that he thought it was a good amendment, and he was one of the main authors of the original law.
