Free Drinks at Slot Machines Approved

The state legislature has approved a bill that will allow free alcohol to be served at the new slot machines that are coming in to Pennsylvania. Late Tuesday night, both houses signed off on a bill that will allow the free drinking at the slot machines, and many are wondering when that bill was actually discussed.

Supposedly they have been discussing the possibility of allowing the drinking at the slot machines for over a year, but it seems that they decided to make it public when no one was looking so that no one could object. Opponents to the new slot machine drinking bill say that there was no opportunity for the public to have their voices heard, and that the government ensured that it would be passed by handling it right before the session’s final adjournment.

They say that with an exception to the liquor code that is this big, the rushing of the bill to get passed seems a little shady at best. They say that since the liquor law currently states that no free drinks are to be given away, even with dinner, how is it possible that you can now give free alcohol to slot machine players? Not only are slot machines the most addictive form of gambling, but that addiction is now fed by the constant flowing of alcohol.
