Minnick Pleads GuiltySgt. Jeffrey A. Minnick of the 2nd Infantry Division’s 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery pled guilty to charges of theft and attempted theft and property destruction at a Camp Casey court martial on Monday. He also pled guilty to offering compensation to a soldier whose debit card he used to feed his addiction. With those charges, he pled guilty to discrediting the armed forces. Minnick is a gambling addict, and is addicted to slot machines. He stole debit cards from battalion mail and used them to play the slot machines. He will serve a jail term, as well as receiving a rank reduction to E-1, forfeiting all pay, and a bad conduct discharge. He has been gambling since December 2005, when his career was not going well and his wife divorced him. He stole two cards on June 13th, one of which was the card of a specialist. When he realized the specialist knew his money had been stolen, he tried to pay off the specialist to make it go away, and just made the case worse for himself. He used the $120 that he stole from the account to play the slot machines at the Warrior Club which is located on Camp Casey. He told the judge he was just hoping no one would notice the money gone, and that this was the lowest point of his life. He said his new wife is handling all of his finances now so that he has no money to gamble at the slot machines. Back to November Index - Slot Machines Fan |
