MosChip Enters Gaming Arena

MosChip Semiconductor Technology Limited has announced that they are making their first foray into the gaming platform arena with a high performance connectivity solution. Turns out that their PCI-based UART Chip has caught the eye of Densitron Gaming, a subsidiary of Densitron Technologies PLC.

MosChip, India’s first fables chip designer, will be embedding their chip “Sapphire” in the slot machines issued by the Russian gaming company Unicum Group. They are using the chips in their “Sensation” video slot machines that they sell across the world.

MosChip is already a leader provider of connectivity solutions for other businesses, but this will be their first chip put inside of a slot machine. Craig Stapleton, Product Manager at Densitron, said, “MosChip MCS9845 was the ideal chip that allowed us to provide a total of eight serial ports in the gaming platform providing a comprehensive feature set for the I/O intensive environment of today’s video slot machines.”

The MosChip MCS9845 PCI to Dual UART/ISA controller chip is already used in a variety of applications, and Densitron is happy that they will be able to now add slot machines and gaming applications to the list.
