Slot Machines Need RegulatorsThe state of Colorado is under fire for not having enough regulators for their slot machines. The number of slot machines per regulator is 3,400, when most states have 1,500 per official. Ron Kammerzell, the Director of the Colorado Gaming Division, said that the state is not having any problems and that they are “sufficiently staffed.” He also said that he thought they were in a “better position today than [they’ve] ever been.” Kammerzell went on to say, "I see these problems that we're experiencing today diminishing over the next couple of months. We've sent a message to the industry - we're not going to tolerate this." He also said that they would be following up on all of those casinos that had already been fined, and if they are caught operating a defective or illegal slot machine, it may face suspension or revocation of its Colorado gaming license. Considering the fact that it is a $12.3 billion industry in slot machine spending alone, it is worth having enough regulators to ensure the fairness of the games.
