Slot Machine Revenue is Already HugeIf anyone had any doubts about the money making power of slot machines, the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs should put you at ease. The new slot machine casino brought in $928,000 in tax revenue during its first three days open. The state’s gaming control board reports that $16 million was wagered over that same time period, with more than $14 million paid out. This is astounding considering the fact that sixty percent of their 1,095 slot machines are set up for nickel, penny and two-cent bets. If you are interested in playing the slot machines, you will find that the majority of them are taking smaller denominations, and that seems to be just fine for most of the players. “I think the newness of the [slot machine casino], and the fact that there is no competition for it (in Pennsylvania) at this point produced some strong numbers for them,” said state Gaming Control Board spokesman Doug Harbach. Experts think that even though the slot machine casino has no current competition, the way they have set themselves up they are destined to succeed. The other slot machines in the state will be up and running shortly enough, with the next casino opening in December. “They’re going to do extremely well for a long time,” Harbach predicted of Mohegan Sun.
