No More Smoking While Playing Slot Machines?

There is a measure on the Nevada ballot this November that would make smoking inside of the slot machine casinos illegal. There is also one that would make it illegal everywhere but in the slot machine casinos – and they are battling it out next Tuesday.

Many who work at the slot machine casinos and many who frequent the slot machines think that it is a terrific idea. They think that it should be illegal and that the slot machine casinos are no different from any other business and should abide by the same rules and regulations. Others think that by making smoking illegal in the slot machine casinos that they will ultimately end up hurting the casinos and their revenue. It behooves the casinos to keep people inside playing the slot machines, for when they go outside to smoke they will see the real world and possibly leave. When they are inside they have a tendency to forget the outside world, which makes them stay longer, and spend more money.

Neither measure would ban smoking entirely from the slot machine casinos, you would still be allowed to smoke on the floor, while you are actually playing the slot machines, but many say it does not matter. They think that if you are banning smoking in any part of the slot machine casino, you are affecting business. In addition to not affecting the slot machine floor, it also would not ban it from brothels and strip clubs.
