Alberta Casino Looking
After Players’ Best Interests
Some casinos truly do not want to see their customers suffer
from lack of control. There are those people who are addicted to
slot machines that cannot control their urges to play. There are
something called self exclusion programs that some casinos put
in place to keep slot machine addicts from losing more money in
their casino. However, many of these self exclusion programs do
not come without risk to the casino as well.
As of right now if you put your self on the self exclusion list
so that you will not play slot machines in any casino year will
be barred entrance at the casinos. If, for some reason, you are
able to get past casino security, and you play at the slot
machines the casino will often be held responsible for that
gambling debt.
The Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission is deciding to go a
different route with their self exclusion program. Now the
player will be fined for trying to get into the casino. As of
November 1 if you show up at a casino in trying to play their
slot machines and you're on the last, you will risk a fine of
$250. The commission feels that this will act as more of a
deterrent for gamblers as otherwise they know that they get into
trouble someone else will ultimately have to bail them out. This
puts the onus directly onto the gambler.
As of right now more than 1500 gamblers have signed up for the
program that they are running in Alberta which just goes to show
you that they really don't want to gamble if they have a
problem. Once you sign up on the list photo identification and
names of those on the list go out to all of the casinos in hopes
that they will ban you from the premises.
