Do People Still Want Slot Machines?

According to International Game Technology, their numbers might be down, but slot machine requests have at least stabilized for the time being. Many slot machine manufacturers had reported that it was a tough time in the industry with many casinos holding onto the slot machines that they had and not necessarily ordering more.

This has made it difficult for the slot machine manufacturers to keep their numbers up. But in this economy, with so many people not gambling right now, they have not felt the need, or the ability to update or add more slot machines. With this in mind though, the announcement that numbers had stabilized is good news.

Many states are still opting to add slot machines, so this is good news for manufacturers. Those states that are holding on to theirs would normally have added more – which leaves a gap in their ordering numbers. But with more states choosing to order, instead of having higher numbers, they are doing average amounts of ordering.

Profit wise many of them are still hurting, and International Game Technology is among them. They have reported that their revenues are down with them losing $21.3 million last year. This works out to being down seven cents a share – a significant decrease. The Las Vegas Sands has said that their numbers are down as well, but both companies are expecting an increase this year. They say that they believe that the economy, in as far as slot machines are concerned, is definitely on the rise.
