Agua Caliente Supports RepublicansOne can only call the latest move from the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians political. It seems that they have put $450,000 behind a Republican candidate to defeat a Democratic candidate, and just months after their compact was not approved by a mostly Democratic Legislature. Representatives for the tribe say that this is not a political move at all, that the tribe is “non-partisan,” but one can only laugh at those statements. If the tribe were truly non-partisan, they wouldn’t be throwing their money behind candidates and making thinly veiled threats of having a list of “who was there for them and who wasn’t.” When Governor Schwarzenegger started throwing slot machines at the tribes like they were candy, people knew it was just to try and keep the Indians and their money out of their opponent’s pockets, and it looks like they have succeeded. The group has put money into flyers and TV ads that show the Democratic candidate in a negative light, just because they didn’t approve more money for the Indian tribe. It is disappointing to see how political our country has become, and how money motivated our Indian tribes have become as well. It doesn’t matter who the candidate is, or where they stand on any of the issues, if you go against the Indians and their money, you’d better be prepared for a fight come election time. slot machine, slot machine, slot machine, slot machine Back to October Index - Slot Machines Fan |
