Casinos Were Already IllegalWith the announcement by Prime Minister Patrick Manning of the plan to cut back on slot machines and gambling in Trinidad, panic set in among the casinos and the slot machine owners. However, Junior Finance Minister Conrad Enill wants to know what the ruckus is about, as he says Manning was simply stating the law. He says that the idea that the new announcement will do “irreparable harm” to the economy was nonsense, as he said all the Prime Minister did was to state the law that already exists in Trinidad and Tobago. He said that casinos are already illegal, and that only “private members’ clubs were allowed to operate legally.” He said the only difference now is that those clubs must operate within the confines of the law, and that it had gotten lax as of late. He felt that the casinos and slot machine owners were overreacting. He said that those that were accusing Manning of operating under some personal gain were mistaken, and that the government had been talking for some time as to how they could regulate the industry. He did not comment on how online slot machine gaming would be handled, nor did he comment on how the Lottery might be affected by it as well. slot machine, slot machine, slot machine, slot machine Back to October Index - Slot Machines Fan |
