Chicopee Asked to Ban SlotsThe Massachusetts License Commission voted unanimously in May to stop issuing slot machine and video gaming licenses. They had just raided fifteen bars and seized 38 slot and video machines, as well as $10,000 in cash. They raided bars, clubs, etc. in Chicopee, Springfield and Holyoke. The ban states that no license will be awarded for any slot machine or video gaming machine that is to be used for gambling. It also states that “any automatic amusement device which may reasonably be considered to present a risk of misuse as a gaming device" will not be approved either. Last night, the Aldermen were asked to impose a ban as well on video gaming devices and slot machines, in support of what the License Commission was trying to do. James Tillotson, the Chairman of the Ordinance Committee and Alderman-at-Large, stated that the ordinance will be revised and strengthened as needed in October when it comes to a vote. Holyoke has also voted to ban the video slot machines in July, as well as Agawam and Westfield. William Pagel, the License Committee Chairman, says that because of the bans, it shows support for the commission and “gives [them] more powers to inflict more discipline.” slot machine, slot machine, slot machine, slot machine Back to October Index - Slot Machines Fan |
