Governor Rell Challenging FoxwoodsGovernor M. Jodi Rell announced today that she wants to fight the Foxwoods Resort Casino on slot machine revenues that she says the casino is stealing from the state. Foxwoods had started a new promotional campaign that was designed to bring more slot machine players into the casino. They sent coupons for $50 free slot machine play to roughly 700,000 addresses in September. The state doesn’t have issue with the coupons; they have issue with the amount of money that the casino is sending on to the state. Rell said that the promotion was “an egregious breach of contract” and that the casino had cost the state $356,000. Foxwoods is continuing the promotion, as they say it is a “legitimate marketing effort” and have decided to let the courts handle the case. They say that if someone wins using the ticket, that the amount they played should be deducted from the slot machine winnings. The state says it should be included. In a letter to the State Attorney General, Rell said, “This flagrant breach will cause great financial harm to the state and its citizens and seeks to undermine the very terms of the agreements.” slot machine, slot machine, slot machine, slot machine Back to October Index - Slot Machines Fan |
