Illegal Gambling Gets BustedIn a raid last week, vice detectives seized electronic slot machines from several county bars and restaurants. The police raided captain Buck’s Tavern in Curtis Bay, and Doc & Annie’s and Mom Ward’s Sub Shop in Brooklyn Park. The police spent their time detailing extensive undercover investigations to nab the criminals, and in addition to the above, they also shut down a sporting gambling pool and an illegal dice game. From Captain Buck’s they seized one slot machine and $1,112 in cash. They also discovered the gambling pools and dice games in this location. They seized four slot machines and $9,425 from Mom Ward’s, and only one machine and $237 from Doc & Annie’s. Each of the locations except for Doc & Annie’s were charged. Lee Browning of Captain Bucks was charged with possession and operation of a slot machine, as well as the sports pools and the dice game. Christine Ward of Mom ward’s was charged with four counts each of possession and operation of a slot machine.
